Carbon Signal is designed to be a collaborative tool where multiple users can contribute to the same portfolio. Permissions management occurs at two levels: the Team, and the Portfolio. This article provides more information on how to manage permissions on Carbon Signal.

Teams

You can access permissions at the Team level by going to the Team dropdown, selecting your Team, and then going to Team Settings.

From within Team Settings, go to the People section. From here you can invite collaborators by email address. Note that some users who use SSO for authentication may be automatically added to a Team by their organization, depending on how SSO is configured.

At the Team level, there are three levels of permissions: Owner, Admin, and Member. Owners and Admins have access to all Portfolios regardless of whether they are Public or Private (see related Using Portfolios). Member can also see Public Portfolios, but you can restrict their access to Private Portfolios if needed.
Permission Level
Description
Owner
There is only 1 Owner per Team. Owners have access to all Portfolios and all features. In addition, Owners have the ability to delete Teams if needed.
Admin
Admins have the same access privileges as owners, except for the ability to delete Teams.
Member
Members do not have access to Team settings. In addition, their access to Private Portfolios can be controlled when sharing the Portfolio.

Portfolios

You can control which of your Team Members has access to each Portfolio. If you want to limit access to a Portfolio, first change its visibility settings to Private by clicking on Share portfolio from the portfolio card or from the overflow menu in the Portfolio itself, and changing the Who Has Access dropdown to Invited Team Members Only.

Then add the Team Member by selecting their name from the dropdown. Once they are added, their name will appear in the list of invited Team Members. Editors have the ability to upload data to the Portfolio, modify data, create Scenarios, and edit Scenarios. Viewers only have the ability to view the information in the Portfolio.
